Stoves Sub-theme of A Capitalist Carol

At several places in Paul Anderson’s book, A Capitalist Carol, there are references to low-tech, smoky cooking stoves that are still used today by three billion impoverished people around the world, about forty percent of the world’s population. The sub-theme is that there is a new cookstove technology that is readily-adopted in limited-scope projects and available NOW for scale-up efforts. This clean-burning cookstove (see photo) is based on TLUD (pronounced “tee-lud”) technology, and it has demonstrated positive, sustainable results, especially with the poorest people who need the most help. But financial support is lacking, even though there are literally billions of “pledged” but unspecified philanthropic dollars (as mentioned in the story).

Paul S. Anderson, PhD, is a key innovator and one of the main pioneers of TLUD cookstove technology.  For his role in the field, he is known as Dr TLUD.  Be sure to visit his website at drtlud.com for more information about TLUD technology.

Dr. Anderson also created the nonprofit, Juntos NFP.  Visit juntosnfp.org for more information about the cookstove and biochar projects that Juntos NFP is either managing or assisting.
